AMBALA: After the Ambala residents continued to jump the Covid-19
lockdown norms, the Ambala police on Tuesday evening deputed two
drone cameras for keeping an eye on the
violators in
Ambala City and
Ambala Cantonment plus Sadar areas, told district superintendent of police (SP),
Abhishek Jorwal.
SP Jorwal said on the orders of Ambala deputy commissioner (DC) Ashok Kumar Sharma; the district administration hired two drone cameras from third-party and deputed one each in city and cantonment plus sadar areas.
Ambala DC
Ashok Kumar Sharma told, "As the lockdown has been extended up to May 3, following directions of the Prime Minister, the surveillance is increased to successfully implement the lockdown."
SP Jorwal said, “The drones will help in checking the lockdown violations and identification of violators will be done through the camera footage and cases will be registered accordingly. The residents had been jumping the lockdown in the district and we have acted strictly. It has come to notice that the residents often come out of houses and go inside if a police team patrols through areas. The drones will help in keeping a vigil eye on important areas.”
“As of now, two cameras one each for city and cantonment plus sadar areas have been deployed. These cameras are operated by the third-party operators accompanied by district police officers who keep an eye on the area through the screen”, added SP Jorwal.
Giving details about the action taken against the lockdown violators, SP Jorwal said, “So far, the Ambala police registered 174 cases of lockdown violations and arrested 233 violators. Moreover, 265 vehicles have been impounded and a total of 2,379 challans worth around Rs 66.89 lakh have been issued to the violators.”
