RAJKOT: A 20-day-old child was axed to death allegedly by his own father at Vikariya village of Gadhda taluka in Bhavnagar district on Monday night. According to the police complaint registered with Dhasa police station, accused Kalu Nayak killed the child over suspicion that he was not the biological father of the kid. Police detained Kalu on Tuesday.
Kalu Nayak, aged 35 years, had been quarreling with his wife Manjula ever since the child was born. He came home on Monday evening and started arguing again with his wife about her alleged extramarital relations. He had an axe in his hand that he threw on the sleeping child. Then with the same axe, he tried to kill his wife. She ran away screaming. Her neighbor Arjun Nayak came to help, but also got injured while saving her.
The couple are natives of Kalad Dudhva village of Kalol taluka in Panchmahal district and they got married 12 years ago. They have six children out of wedlock.
