Coronavirus cases in India: At least 1,463 fresh coronavirus cases and 29 new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, taking the number of cases to 10,815 and deaths to 353 in the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended the nationwide lockdown till May 3 in order to prevent spread of coronavirus. Modi said implementation of the lockdown will be strictly ensured in its second phase and detailed guidelines will be brought out on Wednesday to ensure that outbreak does not spread to new areas.
Some relaxations may be allowed after April 20 in places where there are no hotspots, he said.
Globally, 120,871 people have died from Covid-19 and confirmed infections have reached 1,938,863.
