HYDERABAD: Though the lockdown in the state has been extended up to April 30, white ration card holders (BPL families) are unlikely to get free supply of tur dal (kandi pappu in Telugu) any time soon.
Sources said card holders in Telangana are unlikely to get tur dal for another two weeks. The state government has requested National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) to speed up the supplies. Every card holder would be eligible to get a kg tur dal per month for three months. The Telangana government is expecting over 26,000 metric tonne of supplies from the Centre through NAFED.
"As the lockdown has been extended, we have requested the central government to send at least a month's quota of tur dal as early as possible for distribution to the card holders," an official said.
