THANE: The six NCP workers arrested for the assault on civil engineer Anant Karmuse, allegedly at the behest of state cabinet minister Jitendra Awhad, secured interim bail on Monday.
Karmuse had reportedly posted a morphed photo of Awhad on social media. He said on April 5, three men, who claimed they were cops, took him to Awhad's bungalow, where he was thrashed. "Judge D J Kankhare granted them interim bail owing to the coronvirus crisis," said Satish Mistry, Karmuse's lawyer.
On Sunday, Vartak Nagar police summoned Karmuse's wife to record her statement in the case registered against him. On Monday, Karmuse met governor B S Koshyari. "He said he would look into the matter. When I was being assaulted, I had called up my wife and told her to delete the post. Cops are dragging her into the case."
