All domestic and international flights to remain suspended till 11:59pm 3rd May, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has said. The Ministry's Twitter handle said:

The announcement came after Prime Minster Narendra Modi said that the national lockdown will be extended till May 3.

Soon after the Ministry's announcement, minister Hardeep Singh Puri took to the social media platform.

"There were good reasons for the Lockdown to be extended till 3rd May. We can consider lifting restrictions on both domestic & international flights thereafter, tweeted the minister.

"I understand the problems being faced by people who need to travel & request them to bear with us," he added.

Country's largest airline IndiGo later said that it has suspended flights till May 3. In a communication to customers, the airline said: "We are in the process of cancelling the reservations. Your ticket amount is protected in the form of a credit shell in the PNR, which will be shared with you in the next 5-7 days."

It added that the credit shell can be used within a year from the issued date, but for the same passengers.

IndiGo, and its peers including SpiceJet and GoAir, were accepting bookings for travel from April 15.

SpiceJet too has suspended operations till May 3. "Upon cancellation your entire amount will be maintained in a credit shell and the same may be used to make fresh booking and travel till Feb 28, 2021 for the same passenger, " the airline said in a communication to customers.
