THANE: Thane recorded its biggest spike of 29 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Monday evening. Even as more than half of those who tested positive turned out to be staff at State housing minister and Kalwa-Mumbra MLA, Jitendra Awhad’s bungalow, the minister himself tested negative. However, he home-quarantined himself as a precautionary measure.
Awhad, probably the first state minister to go into sel fquarantine, had been touring his constituency for a few days. He said “...as per protocol, I have put myself under home quarantine for 14 days. I regret that my daily regime of distributing food in my area (has been affected).”
