MANGALURU: A resident of Kadaba police station limits in Dakshina Kananda district allegedly fell prey to an OTP fraud and lost around Rs 1 lakh.
According to the police, the complainant from Kodimbala village received a telephone call on April 10. The caller claimed to be from customer care center of a reputed telecommunication company. The caller said that complainant's mobile SIM card had to be activated and hence an OTP would be sent.
Within 15 minutes of providing the OTP number, the complainant received a message from the his bank that Rs 50,000 were deducted from his account. The next day, his account was debited by Rs 25,000 followed by another installment of Rs 24,900.
A case was registered at the Kadaba police station in this regard.
