PUNE: Three more deaths were reported in the city on Sunday, taking the coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll in the Pune district to 32. With 19 new COVID-19 cases have emerged in the district, taking the total cases to 282 as on Sunday.
One of the deceased was a 58-year-old woman, who was admitted to Naidu Hospital on April 9 and later shifted to Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) where she died on Sunday. She had co-morbidities of hypertension and diabetes with obstructive sleep apnea.
In another case, a 56-year-old woman who had hypertension and diabetes was admitted to Sassoon General Hospital on April 5 succumbed to death.
NEW CASES
As per health authorities, 15 new cases were reported at Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)-run hospitals, taking the total under PMC to 237. Two new cases were reported in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits.
Two cases of COVID-19 were testified at Pune Cantonment Board (PCB). There have been no new cases in Pune rural. Till Sunday, only 12 positive cases were reported.
NURSE TESTS POSITIVE
A 45-year-old nurse at Ruby Hall Clinic tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
Speaking to Sakal Times, Ruby Hall Clinic Medical Director Dr Sanjay Pathare said that as a precaution, 30 nursing staffers are under observation. “The nurse is stable and is in the isolation ward. The other 30 are also under observation,” Dr Pathare said.
FIRST DEATH REPORTED IN PCMC
A 42-year-old man died during treatment of COVID-19 in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area. This is the first death in the area. The patient was admitted at YCM Hospital and was critical. Death toll in Pune district is now 32.
Meanwhile, there is a continuous rise in the coronavirus cases in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. On Sunday, the state government declared Pune into the red zone.
