With more than 900 cases reported in the last 24 hours, India's tally climbed to 9,352 on Monday, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll due to the novel coronavirus pandemic rose to 324, as per ministry's figures. However, global tracking site Worldometer pegs the country's death toll at 331, along with 9,240 cases.

There has been a lag in the Union Health Ministry figures compared to the number of cases announced by different states, which officials attribute to procedural delays in assigning the cases to individual states.

According to tallies provided by state governments, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country is from Maharashtra at 2,334, followed by Tamil Nadu at 1,173 and Delhi at 1,154.

Within Maharashtra, its capital Mumbai has been the worst affected with more than 1500 cases within the city. Death toll in Mumbai touched 100 on Monday as nine more patients succumb to coronavirus infection.
