Coronavirus Pune: Four new areas sealed in Pimpri-Chinchwad

PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) issued orders seal off some areas in suburbs of the industrial city following the rise in several positive cases of COVID-19 persons, including one death. Police have accordingly sealed off the areas, preventing any movement of people or vehicles. Essential service providers are exempted from this restriction.

Strict lockdown measures have been taken by police to rein in the spread of the novel coronavirus in several clusters in the region identified as ‘high-risk’ zones.

Officials said the area from Vineyard Church-Mata Shitaladevi Chowk-Sukhwani Gallery-Public Food Shelter-Pimpale Gurav Road would be sealed. 

Along with this, the area from Diamond Plast Company in Kasarwadi to Datta Mandir-Pimpale Bharat Gas-CME boundary-Siddharth Motors will be sealed from midnight. People have been asked to wear face masks while stepping out of their homes to buy essentials. Also, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has started a helpline and one can contact on 8888006666 and 9922501450 for any assistance.

Earlier, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has also sealed a 34 square km area of the city including 27-sq km of Maharshi Nagar to Naidu Hospital including many peth areas and seven sq km of Kondhwa area.

FIRST DEATH REPORTED IN PCMC
A 42-year-old man on Sunday died during treatment of COVID-19 in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area. The patient was admitted at YCM Hospital and was critical. This was the first death in the PCMC region.

Meanwhile, there is a continuous rise in the coronavirus cases in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad and on Sunday, the state government has declared both regions into the red zone.
