This Sunday both Gurpurab and Easter were celebrated from home

Ludhiana: With the lockdown firmly in place, the Sikh community celebrated 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur from home. Some also helped in preparing langar to be distributed among the poor. The devotees, however, claimed that they will celebrate it in a big way once coronavirus is conquered by the humans.
Pritpal Singh Pali from Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Field Ganj said, “If coronavirus had not spread in country then state wide celebrations were planned for this day,but now due to curfew not many people could come to gurdwara.” He said they were only six to seven people inside the gurdwara for doing path in the morning. He said they prayed to God for helping the human beings to overcome this situation safely and celebrations can wait till that time.
A resident of Model Town, Gurpreet Singh said, “I had no choice but to pray at home with my family members. There was live telecast from Golden Temple and some other gurdwaras, so it came as a relief for us.” He said entire humanity is in danger and it is apt time to pray to Guru Tegh Bahadur, who died trying to save human beings.
Meanwhile, the residents near Sabzi Mandi Chowk made langar together for serving the poor. One of the residents of the area, Vipanpreet Kaur said, “We could not go to gurdwara for worship due to curfew but we can serve the poor people so we all cooked food jointly and when poor will eat food they will give blessings, which is the best thing.”
The youth Akali Dal district president Gurdeep Gosha said, “We have been serving people for the last 22 days of curfew and continued service on Sunday as well. This day is very important for the community but many of us remained indoors for the safety of human beings.” He said they will celebrate once the curfew is lifted.
Easter at home
It was Easter Sunday too, and people celebrated at home while listening to online sermons. The devotees prayed to Jesus Christ asking him to help humanity to overcome coronavirus.
