Mumbai cop tests positive for Covid-19, tweets not getting treatment at hospital

MUMBAI: A constable with the Bangur Nagar police station on Monday tweeted that he had tested positive for Covid-19 but was not being given treatment at a hospital where he was admitted. He tagged the police commissioner, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and state home minister Anil Deshmukh in his tweets, following which the Mumbai Police intervened.
The constable said in his tweets on Monday that he was posted with the Bangur Nagar police station in Malad West. He was on duty when he started feeling unwell. He then got himself tested for Covid-19. The test report was positive. On Sunday, he got himself admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital at Andheri East. But, he added in his subsequent tweets, that no doctor at the hospital had examined him till noon on Monday. He also said that no treatment had been initiated and he hoped his situation would be looked into so that he could get proper treatment.
The Mumbai Police's handle responded that the MIDC police station, in whose jurisdiction the hospital lies, had been intimated. A senior officer of MIDC police station said that they had spoken to the hospital management. "Formalities were taking time as there was a rush of patients. The doctors said that treatment has begun now," the officer said.
