Odisha: Sudarsan Pattnaik to auction 5 sand-art-on-canvas paintings for Covid-19 cause

BHUBANESWAR: Noted international sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik will auction five of his sand-art-on-canvas paintings to raise funds for the cause of Covid-19 fight. The funds will be donated to PM-Cares Fund and chief minister's Relief Fund (CMRF), Odisha.
"I am auctioning five of my sand-art-on-canvas paintings to raise funds to fight against Covid-19. The funds would be given to PM Cares and CMRF Odisha. People interested in these paintings can DM (direct message) him in Twitter," said Pattnaik.

He has posted the photos of these beautiful paintings in his Twitter handle. First one, a 4 feet by 3 feet painting, was named as 'Beauty on the stone'. The second and third one, both 3 feet by 3 feet paintings, were known as 'Our thought for the environment' and 'Sea king' respectively. These paintings were based on sand arts created by Pattnaik in Germany.
The fourth and fifth paintings 'Sleeping beauty' and 'Universal peace' were based on the sand arts created by Pattnaik in Istanbul of Turkey and China respectively.

"I have around 50 such paintings of my sand arts. I have even used fine sand in these paintings. I had planned to hold exhibitions of my works in different metro cities in February and March, but I aborted the plan due to the Covid-19 situation. I had even booked venue for my first exhibition in Chennai. Keeping the difficult situation in mind, I want to auction five of my best works and donate the money for the purpose of fighting against the coronavirus," said Pattnaik.

He had received Rs 5 lakh for a sand-art-on-canvas painting five years ago. "I have received several requests from people to purchase my paintings. I will go for best prices for the paintings. As the auction is for a good cause, many people will come forward for this," said the sand artist.
