China produces more than one-third of the world’s commercial vehicles (CV), and its players are busily preparing for a future of connected, clean and automated transport. New regulations around safety and emissions are creating a particularly lucrative market for suppliers with the right portfolio.

Knorr-Bremse is working to ensure it has just that. The braking specialist has long been active in China but has been making moves to expand its foothold and its product offering. The company recently broadened the scope of its joint venture with Dongfeng Components to include steering systems. The combination of braking and steering expertise could position it as the go-to supplier for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and highly automated driving.
