Gurgaon: Twelve more people tested
positive for
Covid-19 on Wednesday in Gurgaon, taking the total number of cases in the district to 30 (excluding the 14 Italians who were admitted to Medanta hospital).
All of them had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi’s
Nizamuddin last month. The number of such cases in the district is now 15.
Gurgaon is now being treated as a Covid hotspot by the administration, with the number of cases surpassing Palwal and Faridabad (both 28) and only eight short of 38 in
Nuh (Mewat).
While two of the new patients are residents of Agra and were found in Pataudi, the other 10 are residents of Himachal Pradesh and were found staying in a mosque in Sohna Raipur village by Gurgaon police on Tuesday. At night, they, along with six others, were tested at Civil Hospital in Sector 10. A massive door-to-door campaign was launched to collected data on their possible chain of contact and the village was sealed.
“We received a tip-off about 16 people hiding in the village. We took their samples and 10 tested positive. We have gathered that these people are residents of Solan and Una districts of Himachal Pradesh,” said chief medical officer JS Puniya.
Nuh cases now 38
One more Covid-19 case was reported from Nuh on Wednesday. The person, belonging to Madhya Pradesh, had attended the Tablighi Jamaat. Of the district’s 38 cases, all barring one are from the TJ chain. Only four patients are locals.
“In all, 337 people with Jamaat link were identified in the district, of which 37 tested positive,” CMO Virender Singh said.
The administration has identified 286 people who have been in touch with novel
coronavirus patients. All of them have been placed in isolation. “We sent 22 samples for testing on Wednesday. Their results are likely to be out by Thursday,” added Singh. Around 1,267 people have been put under surveillance in the district, out of which 30 have completed the quarantine period.
“We will be testing more rigorously to identify those infected at the earliest. We have already begun the process of door-to-door screening in villages in the containment zone,” said the CMO.
Another TJ link in F’bad
One more person tested positive on Wednesday in Faridabad too, taking the district’s total to 28 cases. The patient, a local, had attended the Tablighi Jamaat, taking the total number of patients with TJ link to 18 in the district.
The health department has now put around 1,237 people under surveillance. Out of these, 197 people have completed 28 days of quarantine. A total of 390 samples have been sent for testing so far, out of which reports of 307 have come negative and those of 55 others are awaited.
