Gurgaon: To help policemen who are stationed across the city —to ensure that the lockdown period passes off smoothly— the Gurgaon police on Wednesday installed temporary tents at check posts where these policemen can rest.
According to sources, the deployment might also be increased as indications are that the lockdown period may be extended.
“Due to the lockdown, several check posts have been set up in the city and policemen, in shifts, are stationed there round-the-clock. As the
temperature is also rising, it is getting difficult for our officers to stand out in the open. These tents will give them temporary relief,” said police commissioner Mohammad Akil.
Gurgaon, which is surrounded by Covid-19 hotpots — Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad and Delhi — has sealed its border with adjoining districts and keeping an eye on the movement of people. Now Gurgaon, has also emerged as another hotspot with a total of 30 positive cases. “We had sealed the border and policemen were stationed at the check post day and night to prevent any kind of unauthorised movement,” said an officer adding that they are strictly enforcing the lockdown and several cases have been registered against violators.
Along with the border, check posts have been installed in different parts of the city, the areas where Covid-19 cases were found have been sealed. “Additional deployment has been made in areas where Covid-19 cases were reported from,” said the officer adding that along with this 120 member special task force is guarding the quarantine centres that has around 100 people under isolation.
Meanwhile, Haryana Police has issued advisory urging residents to be aware of calls from fake bank representatives. Soon after the central government’s announcement to give relief to people in repayment of bank loans, online fraudster started making calls to people asking them to share banking details for postponement of loan repayment. “No bank is making such calls and bank officials never ask for PIN and password,” said ACP Karan Goyal urging people to be careful and not to share banking details with anyone.
