1. Covid-19 has claimed five more people in SA, as overall cases rise to 1 845. The death toll stands at 18 – and four of the victims died after a Covid-19 outbreak at Netcare’s St Augustine's Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. Read more.
2. After reaching R19.33/$ just three days ago, the rand was at R18.18 this morning. Wall Street rallied overnight amid continuing hopes that the coronavirus crisis is near its peak.
3. The EFF has opened a case against Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams for allegedly contravening the lockdown regulations. She was sanctioned by president Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday. Read more.
4. Production at Sasol's fuel refinery in Sasolburg, Natref, will be suspended from today due to an "unpredecented decline" in demand since the start of the national lockdown. Read more.
5. Old Mutual will provide South African healthcare workers with free life insurance worth R10 000 due to Covid-19. The cover will be paid out in case of death related to any cause, and has no exclusions. Read more.
