24-year-old woman wins corona fight in Chandigarh

MOHALI: A 24-year-old woman was discharged from the civil hospital in Mohali on Wednesday - the fifth to have recovered from Covid-19. The other four are elderly sisters, an elderly woman and a 42-year-old man. The 24-year-old was admitted on March 18 when she started showing novel coronavirus symptoms after coming in contact with the first patient of Chandigarh.
Dr Rajindra Bhooshan, who headed the team of doctors treating her, said "She responded to the treatment and remained in high spirits and never showed fear." She is advised to remain indoors for 14 days. The woman thanked doctors, nurses and other staff before leaving the hospital premises.
Meanwhile, the health and family welfare minister Balbir Singh Sidhu reached the civil hospital and lauded the untiring efforts of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to save lives and contain the spread of Covid-19.
In Chandigarh, seven patients, including the first case, have been discharged from different hospitals so far. The city has 11 active cases now.
