CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government’s department of health in association with IIT-Madras-incubated companies on Thursday launched an IVRS (interactive voice response system) to collect Covid-19 data from non-smartphone users in the state.
The number, which can be accessed and is functional from any kind of phone, has been created with interactive voice response that comes with language options and a series of questions on the caller's health condition, travel history, symptoms and others and determines their level of risk. The data is then collated and sent to health department officials who follow up on cases they deem critical.
The number - 9499912345 - also helps classify and flag areas with high number of cases that need immediate attention.
