Ghaziabad: After three days, two persons tested positive for the novel
coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the number of confirmed cases in the district to 25.
The officials said that a 38-year old man from
Ghaziabad’s
Nandgram area and a nurse working at the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in the capital who stays in a highrise society at Bhopura have tested positive.
The man from Nandgram had come in contact with a
Tablighi Jamaat worker who had tested positive.
Later, he went to Sonipat and got himself tested before returning. After the health department came to know about him on Tuesday night, a team of health officials went to his place.
They found him in a serious condition and admitted him to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital in Delhi at 2 am.
Officials said they have sought a medical report from the hospital as well as from the laboratory where the man got his test done.
Five members of his family have been sent to a
quarantine centre.
Chief medical officer NK Gupta said: “We are trying to get more information about the patient’s visit. It is still not clear why he got his test done in Haryana and then came here. We are also trying to find out the places he visited and the people he met.”
Gupta said that the male nurse and his wife were posted at the Covid ward of the GTB Hopsital. The hospital tested the staff and found he was positive. He has been admitted to the hospital. His wife and children have been tested negative, Gupta said.
The health department, on Wednesday, received test reports of 51 people and all were negative. These include 30 Tablighi Jamaat members and their contacts. The results of 82 samples are awaited. As many as 102 persons in connection with Tablighi Jamaat connection have been quarantined at various places in the district.
