KALYAN: To save people the trip to
Kasturba Hospital at
Chinchpokli for Covid-19 testing and treatment, Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) started swab collection and sent nine samples to J
J Hospital for testing on Wednesday. The reports are expected on Thursday.
The KDMC also plans to treat patients here and has sent a doctor team to Kasturba for training on the protocol for Covid-19 treatment, said civic health officer
Pratibha Panpatil. The KDMC has already converted civic-run Shastri Nagar hospital into a Covid-19 hospital and has tied up with a private hospital, Neon, for treatment of patients.
On Wednesday, three more patients—a 40-year-old woman from Titwala who worked as an attendant at Kasturba, a 38-year old man who had attended the March 19 wedding in Dombivli (E), and a 40-year old woman from Kalyan (E)—were found positive, taking the number of cases to 38. Till date, there have been two deaths in Kalyan-Dombivli.
The KDMC has sealed the the twin city and instructed shops selling essential items like groceries and vegetables to down shutters after 5pm. It has also started eight community clinics where people can call regarding any Covid-19 related queries.
