The law provides for imprisonment of up to one year for not performing the duties assigned to him by an officer appointed at the time of disaster. However, whoever has the written approval of his superior officer or has any legal basis for not performing duty, will be exempt from punishment.

Imprisonment for two years for the wrong claim

There is a provision of fine and two years of jail under Section 52 of the Disaster Management Act for wrongful claims seeking relief, assistance, reconstruction, and other benefits.

Punishment in disaster act for two types of crimes

Violation of Section 188 of IPC can be sent to jail for up to six months. At the same time, the action is also taken under Section 188 for violation of epidemic disease law. Under Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, imprisonment for one year and refusal to obey the instructions of the officers can be punishable by one year.

If you do not follow the instructions, you can be punished for up to two years in the event of danger to your life. There may be imprisonment or fine of up to three years for publishing or distributing fear-provoking material.
