hotspots in 15
Uttar Pradesh districts, including Lucknow, have been sealed till the morning of April 15 to prevent the spread of the disease. All these districts have more than six Covid-19 cases.
An order issued by chief secretary RK Tiwari on Wednesday stated that 104 hotspots in these 15 districts will be barricaded and all movement within these areas will be prohibited.
Among the hotspots identified, Agra and Noida have the highest at 22 each, Ghaziabad with 13, Lucknow and Kanpur with 12 each, Meerut with 7, Varanasi and Saharanpur with four each, Basti, Maharajganj, Bulandshahr, Firozabad and Shamli with three, and Sitapur and Bareilly with one each.
Additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Awasthi said that not even media would be permitted in these areas. “The police may use drones to monitor the situation. We will use loudspeakers to provide information to residents of these areas. Nobody will be allowed to leave their homes, unless they are doctors or involved in other emergency services. In cases of other emergencies, we will see what action needs to be taken,” he said.
In a notice sent to commissioners, DMs and senior police officials of the affected districts, Tiwari said: “During a high-level meeting, it was found that Covid-19 loads in your districts is very high…strengthen lockdown in these districts and completely seal the affected areas,” adding that 100% homes in these areas need to be inspected and sanitized.
