As per the letter, dated April 6 and signed by officiating Joint Commissioner (academics) KVS, Priya Thakur, “The current scenario may pose various challenges to our students which have to be addressed and attended to, hence it is suggested that respective schools follow several measures to attend to this problem”.

The KV’s have been asked to start their online session with a pep talk to boost the morale of the students and the session may end with inspirational songs like Hum Honge kamyaab or Yeh waqt naa thehra hai, yeh waqt naa thehere gaa’.

The authorities have asked deputy commissioners of all the 25 regions to instruct principals of schools under their jurisdiction to create an e-mail ID, specially dedicated to guiding and counseling, where students can send in their problems and apprehensions.

Each school has been asked to entrust the responsibility of counseling the students to Two or Three teachers, possessing good counseling skills, to address the problem received from the students. The teachers who have undergone the guidance and counseling course from NCERT (National Council of Education and Research Training) may also be roped in for the assignment.

The schools have been told that assistance of trained counsellor may also be taken if required. Services of counsellors, appointed at the school or that which has worked earlier can also be taken for the purpose.

“Taking prompt action, we have created an ID (kviiitcounselling@gmail.com) for the students and the counsellor of the school, Shubhita Shukla and the librarian Madhuri Rawat would be helping the students”, said principal of KV, IIIT Jhalwa, Vijejesh Pandey.

“There could have been no better time for such a step because students at this young age are very intimate to their friends and even to some of their teachers and not meeting them or sharing their thoughts could cause emotional damage to their brains causing anxiety or even depression in some cases and this could only be controlled or treated by trained counsellor”, said eminent neurosurgeon of the city, Dr Prakash Khetan.
