Bounce, India’s first smart urban mobility solution has scaled up to almost 120,000 rides in a day in Bengaluru city. The company's vision is to make daily commuting accessible, stress-free, time-saving, reliable and convenient across the city. It started its operations in 2018.
The startup currently owns 22,000 bikes in Bengaluru and 4,000 bikes in Hyderabad. Its customers are offered to use these bikes with a variety of plans aimed at reducing traffic congestion by encouraging commuters to opt for shared public transport. Director of Supply and Monetization at Bounce, Nischay AG said, “We have effectively removed almost 100,000 private scooters from the road.”
The keyless scooters available with Bounce allow its users the convenience to pick up a bike from a location with the help of its app and then drop it at any location on reaching a destined location. The backend operations of Bounce team have toiled hard to develop and provide such operations. Co-founder and CTO of Bounce, Varun Agni, said, “We actually started building our own hardware that would go on the bike and a cloud solution in the backend to talk to the bike. When we thought about the best way of doing that, we realised we needed something that would scale well, and so we thought about AWS.” He further added, “So there was the injection built-in with Amazon Kinesis. A lot of processing was happening on the Amazon EC2 and the AWS Lambda". Nischay said, “Half of your headache to manage, maintain and build your services is taken care of by AWS.”
