GUWAHATI: The Chinese People’s
Liberation Army, which had “abducted” an Arunachal Pradesh youth on March 19 while he was out picking herbs, handed him over to the
Indian Army on Tuesday.
The Chinese claim he had crossed over to their side while Indian authorities said he had been in Indian territory along the
McMahon Line. The youth is currently in quarantine at an Army camp at Taksing, in Arunachal’s
Upper Subansiri district. Defence PRO Lt Col P Kohngsai said, “The Tongle Sinkam, 21, has been quarantined by the Army in view of Covid-19 and will subsequently be handed over to his family after 14 days.”
