MUMBAI: Ten days after Kerala high court first live-streamed a proceeding held through video-conferencing, Bombay high court will be offering similar accessibility to public on Thursday on a trial basis.
Justice Gautam Patel will on a “testing basis’’ make hearings of matters listed before him on April 9 “publicly accessible.’’ It is also for a limited number to join in since "space'' is limited just as in a court room.
The access will be via the Zoom app. No password is required. The HC cannot provide tech support for installation for the app available online.
The link for the zoom meeting is given below.A circular issued by the HC on Wednesday placed some conditions and restrictions. Among them: “there is to be no recording under any circumstances’’. A violation will invite “stringent action.’’
“This is a facility extended during extraordinary and difficult times. It is not to be misused or abused. Clandestine or illicit recording is no different from illicit recording of a regular court proceeding,’’ said the note on Thursday’s proceeding.
It also said, “though virtual it is nonetheless a court hearing, therefore appropriate court conduct is required.’’ Advocates though at home, must dress in a “sober attire’’ and hearing will be taken in a serial manner. The “space’’ is limited to 500.
Among matters on board for the VC hearing include one by Reza Borhani for bail in a narcotics case.
