SAD core committee member booked in an assault case in Khanna

LUDHIANA: Khanna police has booked five persons including Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader after an alleged fight between two groups during distribution of ration of Atta Dal Scheme. The accused in the case includes SAD Core committee member Yadwinder Singh Yadu among four others.
Police officials said there was heated exchange of words between Gurmeet Singh, Sarpanch of Bullepur village and President of cooperative Society Inderjit Singh during distribution of ration of Atta Dal Scheme. They added that the exchange of words soon turned into fight with each side accusing each other of pulling beard, leveling caste related bad words.
Cops said that later Gurmeet Singh and Inderjit Singh lodged complaints with Sadar Khanna police station. They added that police later booked Yadwinder Yadu and four others under sections 295 (Destroying, damaging or defiling a place of worship or sacred object with intent to insult the religion of any class of persons.), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.
SHO Sadar Khanna police station, Baljinder Singh confirmed that case has been registered against Yadu and others. He added that they have got complaint from Gurmeet Singh against the other party and allegations leveled by him are being probed.
In the meanwhile SAD workers alleged that the case against Yadu was registered under pressure from Congress party as he was carrying out good work for poor in the area.
