BHUBANESWAR: After the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently asked banks to offer their customers a moratorium of three months for repayment of loans in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak, the Odisha police have advised people to ignore telephone calls from fraudsters.
“We have come across a new form of cyber crime in some states. Customers get telephone calls asking them to share their OTP in order to postpone their loan equated monthly instalments (EMIs). Once the OTP is shared, money is immediately siphoned off by the fraudsters,” a senior police officer said. Though no such case has been reported in Odisha yet, police urged people to remain alert.
