Now the central government has taken a big decision in this regard and announced that the salary of all MPs will be cut by 30 percent for one year and MP fund has also been postponed for 2 years. So how much will be saved?
The President, Vice President, and Governors have also decided to cut their salaries. Apart from this, the salary of all MPs including Prime Minister of India, Modi and Union Minister will be cut by 30%. These deductions will be effective from April 1 and will continue for 1 year.
Total number of MPs 790
There are 790 MPs in both the Houses of Parliament and if the salary of one MP is Rs 1 lakh, then the salary of each MP will be deducted by 30 thousand rupees. This will save Rs 23 crore in a month.
MPs are given 5 crores every year under MP fund which has also been postponed for 2 years.
President's salary 5 lakhs
The President gets Rs 5 lakh as salary and the Vice President gets Rs 4 lakh. The salary of the Governor is 3.5 lakhs, then the Lieutenant Governor posted in the Union Territories gets a salary of 1.10 lakhs. The Prime Minister's salary is 2 lakh rupees.
A reduction of 30% in salaries of those sitting in top positions and MPs will save about Rs 25 crore. Postponing the MP fund will save about Rs 7,900 crore.
There will be total savings
The decision of the Center will save about Rs 8,000 crore and this money will be used to fight the coronavirus.
