LUDHIANA: 410 suspected cases have been received by the health department till Tuesday. Of which 372 tested negative, two have died and seven have tested positive. Results of the remaining 29 samples are pending at
Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, including the three sent on Monday and then resent on Tuesday and 26 samples of throat swabs taken on Tuesday.
The three samples which were resent include two samples of positive patients who had to undergo consecutive tests.
So far, seven patients, including five women, have tested positive for Covid-19 despite they not having any foreign travel history. The first was a 55-year-old from Gurdev Nagar who tested positive on March 24 and was admitted to
Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. On Tuesday evening, her throat swab was again sent to Government Rajindra Hospital, result of which would be declared late on Wednesday.
The second patient is a 72-year-old Jalandhar woman admitted to
Christian Medical College and Hospital. Her condition is stated to be stable. The third patient, a 42-year-old woman from Amarpura Mohalla, was referred to Rajindra Hospital on March 30. She died the same day. Her 72-year-old neighbour is the fourth case. The fifth case is a 69-year-old woman from Shimlapuri. She too succumbed to
coronavirus on Sunday afternoon.
Two others are a 26-year-old man from Rajgarh village, Payal block, who visited Hyderabad on March 16 and was in Delhi on March 23. He took the flight on March 24 from Delhi to Ludhiana. He is one of the 20 persons who returned to Ludhiana after attending a religious congregation from March 13 to 15 at
Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi, stated additional director general of police (ADGP) in a letter to deputy commissioner Pradeep Agrawal, commissioner of police Rakesh Agrawal and senior superintendent of police (rural) on April 1.
The next is a 55-year-old man from Chowkiman village on Sohian Road, Jagraon tehsil, tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday evening. He visited four persons in nearby areas, who were also taken to the civil hospital on Monday evening and their samples taken.
His name was in the list of people who returned to Ludhiana after visiting the area near Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi, which was issued by agencies on April 4. On the same day he was taken to the civil hospital. He had been to a mosque near Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi from March 17 -19 for religious work.
