KURUKSHETRA: Kurukshetra district Covid-19 ration relief helpline numbers have been receiving calls from the residents who have everything at home and the Kurukshetra deputy commissioner (DC) is up for shaming such residents who are misusing the relief material amid the crisis.
As the ration relief is meant for poor and needy people who are homeless, living in shanties, or those who survive on daily wages, but some well-equipped residents from Kurukshetra have been calling the helpline numbers while mentioning that they have nothing to eat and are in need of ration.
Such an incident came to notice on Wednesday, when the Kurukshetra administration received a call from one Jaipal of Muradnagar village in Ladwa block, who said he is not having anything to eat.
Following a team of Kurukshetra administration from Ladwa block went with the ration to Jaipal’s home and upon reaching Muradnagar village, it found a good house, 3 tanks full of wheat, drums full of rice and wheat flour.
The team recorded the video of itself inspecting Jaipal’s residence and Kurukshetra deputy commissioner (DC) Dhirendra Khadgata shared the video with media in the WhatsApp group of the district information and public relations officer.
Kurukshetra DC Khadgata wrote a message along with the video, “We need to shame such persons who are misusing the relief material.”
DC Khadgata said, "Under a micro-plan to assure help up to every needy person in the district, committees having 6 members each have been deputed in the field at 794 booths of the Kurukshetra. These committees will conduct a door-to-door survey and identify the areas where somebody actually needs help. There are cases which have come to notice that people are misusing the relief material. The committee members are being imparted safety training through social media as per the advisories of the health department."
