LUDHIANA: Isolation Facility Management Committees (IFMC) have been formed for each Covid Control Isolation Centre (CCIC) in the district. There are three levels of government hospitals in the district, catering to Covid-19 patients. In Level 1, we have the
civil hospital in Ludhiana, while Level 2 consists of community health centres (CHCs), and Level 3 includes other government facilities being converted into isolation centres to tackle the crisis.
The civil hospital has a capacity of 150 beds for Covid victims, whose overall in-charge is SDM (East) Amarjeet Singh Bains; security-in-charge is
Warayan Singh, ACP (Central); and medical in-charge is Dr Geeta Kataria. Other members of the civil hospital committeee include PWD executive engineer
Adesh Gupta, Assistant Food Supplies Officer (AFSO) Damanjeet Kaur, excise and taxation officer (ETO) Bhag Singh, and sub-divisional engineer (PSPCL)
Jasbir Singh. The 150-bed Covid-19 wing in the hospital will be fully ready in three days, with ventilators, oxygen piping, and ICU beds.
Amarjeet Bains said, “The civil hospital will soon get five ventilators, and we are asking for more from the government. First, we fully equip the civil hospital, and if the facility is full, then we shift the new patients to CHCs, and even if they get full, we will move to other government facilities.”
“Besides this, the food being served to patients will be standardised. They will be given packed food rather than langar. PPE (personal protective equipment) kits and masks are in sufficient quantity, as patient inflow is less right now,” he added.
A total of 86 suspected Covid patients have now been admitted in the isolation ward of civil hospital, including 7 admissions on Tuesday. In all, 48 throat swabs were taken on Tuesday, and 42 patients were sent back after the swabs turned out negative. There are only three positive patients admitted to the isolation ward of the Civil Hospital.
