MUMBAI: Further restrictions on shops have been imposed in the
Mira-Bhayander region from Thursday after Covid-19 positive cases rose to 15.
The
Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) Commissioner Chandrakant Dange has ordered that vegetable and fruits would be available between 9am and 12pm. Milk and grocery shops can function between 9am and 5pm. Medical shops can continue to operate as per their timings. The restrictions will be in force from April 9 till further orders.
The Mira-Bhayander region is seeing a spike in Covid-19 cases. Several residential areas where positive cases have been found has been sanitised. The restrictions have been imposed to encourage people to stay at home and step out during the allotted times only to make necessary purchases.
In Naya Nagar of Mira Road, the police have been forced to continue punishing people found roaming on the streets without valid reasons. Since the lockdown began on March 24, cops have been going around localities, urging people to stay indoors.
Among those found positive include a family of five and a three-year-old child. A taxi driver and a security guard of a housing society have also tested positive.
