The move comes following officials’ request to the public to stay home this week and avoiding all non-essential travel including shopping as confirmed coronavirus cases and death toll in the county continue to rise.
Norma E. García, Acting Director, L.A. County Department of Parks and Recreation said in a recent press statement that the difficult decision to close all L.A. County parks locations have been made considering the health and safety of the guests, team members and communities. She mentioned that Easter is a day of celebration for many park guests and fun tradition for L.A. County Parks but the decision of closure is inevitable. She also appreciated that support from public and said that everyone need to come together and collectively work to flatten the curve of the coronavirus.
As of Tuesday, Los Angeles County health officials confirmed 22 more coronavirus-linked deaths bringing the county’s total to 173. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti issued an order for every resident to wear a face mask when visiting the majority of essential businesses in hopes of protecting workers and slowing the spread of the coronavirus.
