Karnataka reports fifth Covid-19 death; total cases touch 181

BENGALURU: A 65-year-old man from Kalaburagi who died on April 7 found to be infected with Covid-19. This is the fifth coronavirus death in Karnataka and second in Kalaburagi.
The man was among the six fresh cases of coronavirus reported from the state on Wednesday, taking the total count of the infected to 181.
The 65-year-old was suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). "He was first admitted at a private hospital in Kalaburagi, two days ago. He was further shifted to ESI hospital with suspected SARI. The patient was also tested for Covid-19 and died on April 7 morning," said K Sudhakar, medical education minister.
All protocols were followed during the man's last rites on Tuesday, April 7. "The elderly man's son runs a fruits shop in Kalaburagi. All his contacts are being traced," the minister told TOI.
The fresh six cases, included two from Kalaburagi, one each from Uttara Kannada, Mandya, Chikkaballapur and Bengaluru city. Three of the new patients are women.
The other Kalaburagi patient is a 72-year-old-woman, whose son (57) is suffering from SARI and has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The Uttara Kannada patient is a 26-year-old woman from Bhatkal and is suffering from SARI. She was in contact with a person who had returned from Dubai.
A 27-year-old Bengaluru woman with a travel history to Delhi has also tested positive.
The two other patients are a 35-year-old Mandya man who is a contact of two Tablighi Jamaat attendees from Mysuru and a 23-year-old Chikkaballapura man with a travel history to Delhi.
