Directorate of fisheries allows fish sale, but with precautions

Panaji: The Directorate of Fisheries on Monday issued an order permitting the fishermen to conduct their business, however, the department has advised the fishermen to take required precautions and ensure social distancing while conducting the retail sale of fish.

As per the advisory, fishermen are permitted to sell fish during ongoing lockdown due to COVID-19 that is enforced to stem the spread of the dreaded virus.

“All are directed to maintain social distancing while conducting the retail sale of fish. Proper hygiene and sanitary precautions shall be taken into consideration by the respective society while the sale of fish is conducted,” reads the advisory note issued by the department

 The department has said that open sale and any crowding during the sale of fish will not be permitted, adding, home delivery of the fish shall be given preference.
