Super Pink Moon April 2020 LIVE Updates: The month of April is special as it is when a lot of celestial events are lined up one after the other starting with the Super Pink Moon. The entire world witnessed the Super Pink Moon last night, in India it was around 8:05 today, April 8. While people are stuck at home due to the 21 days lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic they just gazed upon the stunning Super Pink Moon from the balcony or rooftop.
So was is it called a Super moon? Well, it is because this celestial event occurs when a Full Moon takes place at perigee — the closest approach of Moon to the Earth’s orbit — it is known as the Super Full Moon or simply the Super Moon. Now what does a Pink Moon mean?
According to the old Native American culture, the Full Moon in the April month is called the Pink Moon. The name Pink Moon comes from the pink flowers known as Wild Ground Phlox or Moss Phlox that bloom in spring in North America and cover the ground like a pink blanket around the time of April’s Full Moon.
