Tony Ferguson is set to face Justin Gaethje on 18 April as the headline fight at UFC 249 as the full fight card was announced to be hosted in America, with a venue yet to be confirmed.

UFC president Dana White also pledged to host weekly events if possible at different locations including a private island.

Ferguson, who was set to face lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will instead challenge Gaethje for the interim 155lb after the Russian failed to secure a flight out of his homeland.

White has controversially decided to continue hosting fighting events despite the global pandemic that has seen the USA record 367 650 confirmed cases with 10 943 deaths as on 7 April.

US President Donald Trump has encouraged social distancing measures with many states enforcing lockdowns as Trump warned Americans to prepare for "a tough two weeks" as they reach the apex of infections.
