Covid-19: Four more containment zones established in Trichy city

TRICHY: The Trichy Corporation has established four new containment zones in the city with the residences of five Covid-19 positive patients as the epicentres.
Trichy district on Monday recorded 13 new Covid-19 positive cases, five of which were reported in Trichy Corporation’s jurisdiction. Ponmalai zone has recorded four new positive cases, including two patients from the same family, while K Abishekapuram zone has recorded one new positive case.
With the help of revenue department officials and police, the urban local body has blocked all the entry points to the neighbourhoods of Covid-19 positive patients. “Residents in the containment zone will not be allowed to move out. Essential commodities will reach them. If required, our workers will buy them the required products,” an official with Trichy Corporation said.
Besides the four new containment zones cordoned off based on Monday’s Covid-19 lab tests reports, the city has five existing containment zones. Srirangam is the only zone without any Covid-19 containment area in Trichy city.
