AMBALA: Two residents of Maharashtra state linked to
Tablighi Jamaat (TJ) tested positive for
Covid-19 in Ambala district on Tuesday, after the
Haryana health department received their reports from BPS Medical College for Women, Sonepat, told Ambala district civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
"Two patients aged 20 and 64 both linked to TJ belonging to Maharashtra state tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Both of them would possibly be shifted and hospitalized from Ambala Cantonment to MMU Hospital, Mullana. Presently, they are isolated under strict observation of the medical officers in Ambala”, told Dr Kuldeep Singh.
Dr Kuldeep said, "Nearly 20 contacts of both these Maharashtra men are already quarantined in Ambala Cantonment since March 31 and they are also under the observation of the medical officers.”
"On Monday, a total of 87 samples of persons linked to TJ were sent for clinical examination of Covid-19, out of which 2 of Maharashtra tested positive, 83 tested negative and the reports of 2 samples are still awaited", added Dr Kuldeep.
The Ambala police sources said that on March 31, nearly 50 persons linked to TJ were quarantined at different mosques in Ambala, and two Maharashtra patients who tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday are two of them.
Dr Kuldeep said, "On Tuesday, a total of 29 samples have been sent from Ambala for clinical examination of Covid-19. Out of which, 8 samples are of residents of Ambala and 21 of persons linked to TJ and their family members."
Dr Kuldeep added, "Up To April 7, a total of 185 samples have been sent from Ambala, out of which, 115 persons are linked to TJ or are their family members. Out of these 115 TJ persons, so far, the samples of 88 have tested negative and the reports of 23 are still awaited. A total of 4 TJ persons tested positive in Ambala."
Earlier on April 2, two residents (aged 66 and 55) of Nepal and Maharashtra respectively linked to TJ had tested positive in Ambala district. Out of these two, Nepal patient is undergoing treatment at
Ambala hospital, while the Maharashtra patient is undergoing treatment at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Before this, on March 28, a resident (21) of Ram Nagar village of Patiala district had tested positive in Ambala district, who is undergoing treatment at Ambala hospital. Dr Kuldeep told, “On Monday, we have sent the samples of the patient belonging to Patiala district for testing Covid-19 after ten days and his reports are awaited.”
Up to Tuesday, a total of 5 positive cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Ambala district and all of them are not from Ambala district.
On April 1, Harjit Singh Kohli of Timber Market, Ambala Cantonment had died at PGIMER, Chandigarh and he had also tested positive for Covid-19 after his test over there.
