KOLKATA: State
excise department has seized 200 bottles of liquor of foreign origin from a person who was already under the radar of state agency for sneaking in foreign liquor into the country without paying any duty. The person was arrested on Tuesday from a house near
Hazra Road.
Based on specific inputs the excise department officials conducted a raid at a
beauty parlour on Tuesday. They got hold of a man who was earlier arrested for selling liquor and arranging parties without necessary permission.
During searches they found 200 bottles of foreign liquor stacked inside the beauty parlour. According to sources, since liquor shops are closed, the person was planning to sell the liquor at high premium. State excise department officials are trying to find out if he is part of a bigger racket that is selling illegally procured liquor in West Bengal.
