347 arrested in Noida for violating lockdown norms

NOIDA: As many as 347 people have been arrested in Gautam Budh Nagar till Sunday for various Covid-19 lockdown violations, police said. In total, 529 FIRs have been lodged against some 1,794 people and 402 vehicles seized for different violations, including that of the Essential Commodities Act.
Barriers have been put in place at as many as 132 places in the district and cops claimed to have checked as many as 36411 vehicles so far. Out of these vehicles, 402 have been seized and a challan amount of Rs 88, 700 has been recovered from the owners, police said.
Dinesh Gupta, director (media) to the Noida police commissioner, told TOI that the FIRs have been lodged against those persons who violated the lockdown by venturing out in numbers more than permitted.
“Suppose, if more than two persons have been found travelling in a four-wheeler, challans have been issued against them for overloading. The vehicles are being seized if there are more violations found like seatbelt not worn, driving without helmet,” he said.
