BJP woman neta booked for firing

FAIZABAD: A BJP woman leader from Balrampur district was booked on Monday for firing shots in the air as people lit diyas and candles for nine minutes at 9pm on Sunday. She was removed from her post by the party. A video showing Manju Tiwari, district president of BJP's women's wing in Balrampur district, firing shots with a revolver in front of her house went viral on social media.
Balrampur SP Dev Ranjan Varma said, "Manju Tiwari has been booked under Arms Act and her gun has been seized."
A case has been lodged against Tiwari in Kotwali city police station of Balrampur under sections 286 of CrPC and 80 of Arms Act, said station house officer Ramashray Rai.
The state president of women's wing Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha, Darshana Singh, took disciplinary action and removed Tiwari from the post of district president. Tiwari later apologised saying she saw entire city illuminated and fired in the air out of jubilation.
