Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) exams in May suspended; portal can be used for study material

Nashik: The Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University’s (YCMOU) examinations scheduled for May have been suspended till further instructions from the State government. Meanwhile, the students of the university across Maharashtra can source their study material from the university’s website and the web radio ‘Yshowani’.

Website of the university
There are over 6.25 lakh students enrolled for 152 programmes belonging to various subjects. These students are taught and counselled at 937 centres through long-distance education. The students attend sessions on Saturdays and Sundays while doing a job or a business during the week. The university has asked them to study at home during the lockdown in the wake of the Coronavirus spread. The study material has been made available on the university’s website: www.ycmou.ac.in. 

Textbooks and supplementary reading material have been made available free of cost on the web portal. The online sessions of political science, psychology, social sciences and some other subjects can be heard on the web radio Yashowani on the website.

Revised exam schedule will be declared
Ravindra Thakre, the Controller of Exams, said, “There are 5.70 lakh newly enrolled students while 54,000 are appearing for exams again. The university holds its exams after the traditional universities conduct theirs. Hence, we will declare our exam schedule after they announce their schedules.”

Working via videoconferencing
Meetings of the university are being held via videoconferencing due to the lockdown. For this, audio-visual department head Abhay Kulkarni and their technicians have extended help. The finance committee had its meeting on March 31 via videoconferencing. The budget for the new financial year was passed, a finance department official, Magan Patil, revealed this. The meeting was headed by Vice-Chancellor E Vayunandan.
