Covid-19 suspect falls from sixth floor of hospital in Karnal

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to escape from hospital, a 55-year-old Covid-19 suspect had a fatal fall from the sixth floor of Kalpana Chawla Medical college in Karnal on Monday morning.
The deceased is a resident of Noorpur village in Panipat district. The deceased was admitted in the hospital on April 1. As he had multiple ailments, he had become asymptomatic for Covid-19 .
On Sunday, his sample was sent for coronavirus testing.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident took place during wee hours of Monday. The deceased used bed sheets and polythene to climb down from the sixth floor where he had been admitted.
The incident has raised eyebrows on the security arrangements in and around the isolation wards of the hospital. Inquest on this case has begin and body of the deceased has been sent for autopsy. Police as well health officials are examining the spot.
