KOCHI: With moderate to heavy
rainfall being reported from many places, temperatures dropped by a couple of degrees across the state on Sunday evening. The Met department said that light thunderstorms with winds touching about 40kmph hit the state from early evening hours. This squally weather is likely to prevail over
Lakshadweep area and off the Kerala coast on Monday also. Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea.
There is a warning of possible
thunderstorm, accompanied by moderate rainfall, at one or two places in most of the districts in the state on Monday. The IMD said that thunderstorm, accompanied with
lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40kmph), is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kerala in the first half of next week.
This is because of a wind trough extending from
South Kerala to Madhya Maharashtra, across interior
Karnataka that would bring rainfall to the region.
Meanwhile, Skymet weather said that during the next 24 hours, scattered light to moderate rain and thundershower activities are expected to occur over Kerala, south and interior Tamil Nadu. Day temperatures in the southern peninsular regions will be above normal.
However, on Sunday, dry weather prevailed over Kerala and Lakshadweep during the day.
