Unique Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabrio By Hofele Looks Like A Small Maybach

This Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet was supposed to be Hofele’s main attraction at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. However, with the event cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tuner was forced to unveil it online.

Finished in Royal Peacock Blue metallic, it features a modified front bumper, with chrome surrounds for the side air intakes and piano glossy black accents in the middle.

Meanwhile, the grille has been swapped for a new one with vertical slats, reminiscent of the modern high-end AMGs, and the Hofele logo is now seen in the middle of it.

Further emphasizing the revised stance of the car are the chrome elements added to the sides, spanning from the front fenders all the way to the rear bumper. The latter has a few glossy black accents incorporated and still houses the three-fin diffuser with two cutouts on each side for the quad-exhaust tailpipes. Adding to the car’s bespoke styling is the hood center line trim, the chrome element on the boot, ‘Hofele’ badge instead of the ‘AMG’ logo and the differently-finished side mirror caps. The turbine forged 21-inch alloy wheels have a high-gloss silver finish with polished front lines.

The interior has been refinished in high quality materials and sports ‘Magnolia’ Nappa leather contrasted by the ‘Royal Blue’ trim added to the top end of the dashboard, steering wheel, seat piping, door cards and other elements. Hofele states that all surfaces, including the roof, have been re-done and for an extra touch of exclusivity, lamb’s wool floor mats were added too.

It still employs the standard powertrain, meaning a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six and a starter-alternator that powers the 48V electrical system. The 435 PS (429 HP / 320 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque, as well as the extra 22 PS (22 HP / 16 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) coming from the EQ unit, rocket this E-Class to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and up to 250 km/h (155 mph).

Having finished the one-off project, the German tuner is now looking to part ways with it. They did not say how much it costs, so those interested will have to reach out to them. Still, expect to pay more than €88,048 ($95,114), which is the official starting price of this model in its homeland.
