COVID-19: Mumbai's Wockhardt Hospital declared containment zone

The Wockhardt Hospital in Mumbai was declared a containment zone on Monday as around 30 doctors and nurses are suspected to have been infected with the novel coronavirus, a senior civic body official said.

"We have declared Wockhardt Hospital as a containment zone and have removed 30 doctors and nurses from there. We have shifted these covid-19 suspected cases to the Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai, where further tests will be carried out," Vijay Khabale-Patil, chief public relations officer at BMC, was quoted as saying.

 

Maharashtra has adopted the Centre's "cluster containment action plan" to target coronavirus hospots in the state. Under the plan, 519 teams are working in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation area to curb the spread of covid-19.

Mumbai, one of the worst hit metro cities by coronavirus outbreak in India, has reported 458 of Maharashtra's 745 cases. The state has recorded 45 deaths so far linked to COVID-19 and 30 of these deaths have been registered from Mumbai.
